Like a lot of people, I find happiness in uncovering patterns, whether it’s playing Sudoku, looking for chains in solitaire, or people and their behaviour. Of the many points of synchronicity today, the most resonant was walking towards a gaggle of Japanese girls – walking in a straggly line a few yards apart – all three of them with a (different) mobile clutched to their right ear. I wondered if they were talking to each other. Or if their hunched walk was the inspiration for Caruso’s portrayal of Horatio in CSI:Miami.
